DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLINGDownloadingAfter you have found the product you want, and you click on the download feature, your Browser brings up a dialog box with two options. One is something like RUN APP; the other is SAVE TO DISK. RUN APP is never a good idea! Our download file is a professional installer. You should never install software when any other software (including the Internet) is running on your computer. It can corrupt your operating system. Don't do it! SAVE TO DISK is the selection you must make. This does not mean save to floppy disk. It means save the download file to your hard disk or typically DRIVE C. Don't put it on your Desktop since it is not something you are going to run everyday. It is an installer . . . to be used one time and maybe again if you need to re-install. We suggest that you create a folder on your hard disk (drive C) called "downloads". Thus, whenever you are using the Internet to download, that folder can be preset on your Browser. Then you will ALWAYS know where those files are. After you select the SAVE TO DISK option, your broswer will display the name of the download file and the path or folder where it is going to be put. DO NOT CHANGE THE FILENAME. But you can select the folder so that you can find the file. When the download is finished, do not close your Internet Connection yet. (Your Trial Period will be activated via the Internet after you complete the Installation.) InstallingIf you followed our instructions so far, then you know how to find the file. If not, press the START button, move up to FIND, select FILES/FOLDERS. In the NAMED box, type the filename. In the LOCATION box, select the appropriate drive. When the file is found, double click it to begin your software installation. During the installation, we give you the option of selecting where to put the software. Maybe you want to select a different drive if your computer has extra hard drives. That's fine! But don't change the folder names. Don't install software into your "My Documents" folder . . . it's not a document. The best place is where Microsoft wants you to put software . . . the "Program Files" folder. Do not try to "OPEN" the file. It is not a ZIP file. It is not a "template". It is the same type of professional product that installs the same way as if you had bought software in a store, opened the package, and inserted the disk into your computer. You would have pressed START, then RUN and selected the appropriate drive to initiate the install. Downloading is just another way of doing the same thing . . . except that the download (install file) will already be on your hard disk. You don't OPEN a Floppy or CD. Don't OPEN our installer. Nothing happens. I can't download - (1) In some cases, the Internet is so busy that nothing seems to happen. Keep trying or come back later. (2) Some Internet Service Providers may have you set up to limit what you can do. Check with them. (3) Files ending with EXE can be very dangerous when you obtain them from unkown or untrusted sources. Since our install files are EXE files (not ZIP), your Virus Protection software may be blocking the download. Try turning off virus protection. Download the file. Then re-enable your virus protection and, for your safety, do a virus check before installing/running the file. |
