I want to put the software on a different computer! My computer crashed! How do I get a new copy of the software?I have a new computer!Simply visit our web site to download the SAME product you originally purchased. Install it on your new computer. You can do this directly at UPDATE. But read on . . . How can I find the name of the product I purchased? - On our products that have a Menu Bar, select HELP - ABOUT. On our specialty products with no Menu Bar, click on the (c) year ED/iT which is near the EXIT button. In either case, you will see the Copyright Screen which lists all the product details include the NAME and EDITION. Prior to July 2001, we were overloaded with requests for our old Registration Number method of reLicensing software products. To fix this overload, we added the ability for you to make a KEYDISK after you installed the software. The KEYDISK retained a separate copy of your License to use the product. When you had to install the software on a new computer or after a computer crash, you used the KEYDISK to restore your License. Beginning Sept 2002, we dropped the KeyDisk feature. Why? Customers did not follow instructions and either lost it or used it for something else. So what now? Now all you need is your ORIGINAL SERIAL NUMBER and LICENSEE NAME (exactly at typed). You simply download the SAME product from our web site, install it, then pay attention to the popups. One will say, "Are you a Licensed Customer?". Press YES and follow the instructions. If you miss the popup, uninstall and reinstall, this time paying more attention to what is displayed. If you did not UPDATE your product prior to July 2001, you are not in our new automated database. Since we provide free software updates, it remains your responsibility to keep your product up to date. You have two alternatives (depending on the product). (1) You can pay a Service Charge (see explanation of charge below) or, (2) you may be able to UPGRADE to a higher level product for the price difference in which case we waive the Service Charge. Wedding and Social Software - If you have a vendor specific Edition, you CAN upgrade to a Full Edition. For example, if you purchased The Complete Wedding Publisher - Geographics Edition ($14.95), you can upgrade to either The Complete Wedding Publisher - Full Edition ($29.95 less $14.95) OR The Complete Social Publisher - Full Edition ($39.95 less $14.95). Just be sure you KNOW what you are doing. If in doubt, email our Sales Department with your name and date of purchase so that sales can confirm your potential for upgrading. QUICK Envelopes - If you have PLUS, you CAN upgrade to PRO. ED/iT also offers "site licensing" which is the only legal way for you to have multiple copies of the software in use at the same time or at different times by the same people in your household or other employees at your office. Our Site Licensing Fee is Ten Percent (10%) of the software cost or a minimum of Five Dollars ($5). You CANNOT make additional copies of any software product other than to install the software on a NEW computer OR to re-install the software on a crashed computer. If you are the ONLY person using one of our products, you can put the product on a second computer. Software Licenses cover ONE USER / ONE COMPUTER. Making copies for others is theft and is illegal. Since that violates US Copyright Law, it is a federal offense. Your local Sheriff does not get involved. Instead it's the FBI. Don't do it. Service Charge The amount of the service charge is 50% of the current price of the product rounded to the nearest dollar. For example, if your product is $29.95, the Service Charge is $15.00. This is not a reLicensing fee. It is a fee for failing to keep your product up to date; to stay current as technology changes. We had to automate our process due to an excessive number of customers who had to reinstall the product due to computer failures or the purchase of a new computer. Our costs to send new Serial Numbers almost caused us to eliminate our free updates policy. Instead, we automated the reregistration process. It remains your responsibility to stay current. We still do not charge for software version updates. In fact the latest versions of our products force you to visit our site periodically to check for the latest version and download it if you desire. No we are not playing hardball with you.
